A Few Remaining Pictures of Calico

I haven't gotten around to any new pictures this week, so I thought that you wouldn't mind seeing just a few more from our trip to Calico.

Here you can see an open mine shaft that they have behind protective wire fencing.

One of the mines you can tour and they fill them with period pieces of furniture so that you can see what life was like in the 1800's.

For $1.00 you can pan for gold and Rick enjoyed this very much!

Now for some knitting news: We just got a large sock order to make 80 socks! My goal will be to crank 4 socks a day now and hopefully have them completed by the end of March. That's about 6 hours of work each day, so I think that'll be pretty do-able. I can close the toes and weave all the ends in at night watching a good movie.

So, I better get cranking!

Congratulations on the order! I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if I had to knit 80 socks, so I hope it's MUCH easier on a machine than by hand!

I love it when places display period pieces and have dummies (for lack of a better word) its so fascinating. You should take a trip down to the Queen Mary, they have a lot of those displays - the first aid room totally blew my mind.

Wow, what an awesome order!

It looks like the trip to Calico was fun. We went to the ghost mining town that's up somewhere near Mono Lake back in 1994; for the life of me I can't remember the name right now, but it was fun.
