It Finally Happened.............

My husband found this in the girls' hen house Sunday afternoon!  No wonder there's been so much clucking going on in there!  And yet today, there were no eggs at all.  Probably very normal at this stage of the game.

Sunday we headed over to Bear Valley Springs to meet up with my dear friend, Kathleen.  We both signed up for a holiday craft show that will be held November 10th.

Isn't the scenery absolutely gorgeous?

The majority of homeowners there seem to all own horses and we even met two of them!

They were nice enough to pose for the camera.

This is Four Island Lake within the golf course.  Beautiful countryside and only about a 15 minute drive from our house.

In knitting news:  A new little pattern is in the works just for little girls.  The pattern has been written and typed and the samples made.  I'm just waiting to do the photo shoot on Sunday when all our grandkids come to visit.  I need one of our granddaughters to be the model.  Hopefully, I'll have the pattern ready to go Sunday evening.

How About a Little Giveaway?

If you'd like a chance to win a copy of our newest pattern called a "Jogger's Wrist Pouch," just leave a comment on this post and answer this question:  What's your favorite sock yarn?

This pattern is written for a woman's and man's average wrist size.  What's so neat about this little pouch is that it can hold a driver's license or credit card or maybe your car or house key while out jogging.

I think it would make a great stocking stuffer for all your jogging friends!  I'll randomly draw one lucky name on Saturday, Sept. 22 and announce it then.  Be sure to answer the question AND please leave contact info to make it easy on me!  Good luck and I'll see you all on Saturday.

And by the way, there's still no eggs at our house yet!

And today's winner is:  Debbie(gussek on Ravelry)!  Congratulations Debbie!  I'll attach the pattern and email it right off to you.  Enjoy!

A New Design

I've been tweeking a new pattern for our "Jogger's Wrist Pouch."  The actual samples are now in our Etsy shop and I hope to have the pattern up and running in a couple of days in our other Etsy shop that's just for our patterns.

These two are made to fit a woman's wrist but the pattern will have instructions for both women and men.  It doesn't take much yarn and is a great project to use up your leftover sock yarns.

Where's the Eggs?

The girls turned 5 months old yesterday so we're hoping for eggs any day now.  I read somewhere on the internet that a woman's mother always used to say, "Spring chickens fall eggs."

The girls behavior has really changed this week, too.  Each morning when I go to clean their hen house, they all come inside to see exactly what I'm doing.  They've never done that before.  Plus, they're moving their wood shavings all around inside like they're trying to make a nest.  A good sign I hope!

Yesterday I didn't bring out the usual corn on the cob, but brought grapes instead.  Lucy really chewed me out for that!  Although they all love grapes, she wanted her morning corn!

In knitting news..........

I'm working up a new design that's quick, easy and handy for joggers.  I need another few days before the pattern will be up and running.  But, it'll be posted here first!

A Smile From Heaven

Several years ago my husband decided to try his hand at a little cement and rock work.  He thought that would be a great project as an entrance to our front door.  He also wanted to do something very special, so he found just the perfect small rocks and placed a cross within the center.

About the same time we planted about 6 Mexican Primrose plants on the property.  This year they haven't done so well because the rabbits come in late at night and nibble on the plants.

The other night my husband was out watering while I was inside doing the evening's dishes.  He came in and asked me to come out and see something......................

Of all the ga-zillion places that a little primrose could pop out on our 2 1/2 acres, it was on this cross that one has appeared.  I believe in miracles and smiles from Heaven.

Doghans and Catghans - tail wagging afghans

It's finally done! Our new series is called "Doghans and Catghans" - tail wagging afghans and the first design in the series is called, "Pals."  It's sure to make your pet "purr" or "bark" with delight!

I just listed it in our Ravelry shop and our new Etsy shop.  We still have our regular shop where we sell our socks, but it was finally time to open a shop just for my patterns.

I hope it brings a smile to your day!

A Visit to the Ostrich Ranch

The Ostrich ranch over in the Cummings valley is quite a special place to visit.  Here's the little guys and gals that they keep in the nursery section.

And for $2.00, you can feed a few of the adults - BUT, watch out for your hands!

These ones stood at least 7 feet tall.

It's a gorgeous area and is nestled right up in the foothills with Bear Valley on the other side.  Really a great outing for your family if you're up in the Tehachapi area.  You can do a search under Indian Point Ostrich Ranch to find out more details.
