A Pattern Giveaway.............

Here it is the day after Christmas already. I was talking this morning to my dear friend Kathleen (who's really like a sister to me) and we're both eager to start knitting and planning for next Christmas! First I need to "unclutter" my work space and then dig in.

This is also a good time for me to plan out the upcoming year and decide in which direction I'd like Tehachapi Sock Company to go. I love making socks (hand knitted and hand cranked on our antique sock machine) but I also love designing. Hopefully, I'll be able to do some more work for a few yarn companies, but I've decided that I'd like to turn our little sock company into a pattern company. Maybe with lots of encouragement from all of you, we can do just that.

This little "coffee sock" pattern is so easy and quick and makes the perfect last minute gift or stocking stuffer. It would be great to give along with a gift card to your favorite coffee house. I thought it would be fun to use as our next giveaway. So, if you'd like a chance to win this downloadable PDF pattern, just leave a comment on this post today, tomorrow or Tuesday. Be sure to leave contact info in case you're the winner. In fact, to make it even more fun, let's randomly draw two names this time. On Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, I'll do just that. So good luck, and be sure to check back then, ok?

Now I'm off to straighten up this room and get busy with some serious cranking. Later, I'll put on a good movie and work on some hand knitted socks.

Enjoy your day and be sure to make some quiet time for yourself.

Til next time..........

Hi I am commenting but not to be a part of the giveaway. I already won a wonderful gift from you this month, thank you so much. I just wanted to tell you I posted a heads up about the giveaway on my blog because I think this is a great giveaway.

Lovely giveaway. Was wondering where does Doris live? In a room of her own or does she share space in the family area? Does that make sense. I guess I don't really know how big Doris actually is.

You are so generous with your give-aways. This looks like a great pattern. I love red, too. What kind of yarn did you use?

Also, I was wondering if you'd post a photo of your knitting machine. I don't know what they look like or how they work. I'm very new to sock making. I've made some of the great big oversized socks that you shrink down to fit. This winter I plan to make a pair of regular plain Jane socks for me as a first project.

God bless you!

Hi everyone! It's wonderful to hear from you and read your comments.

I have to admit - Doris does draw lots of attention! She's clamped to my husband's Black & Decker Workmate Bench (that I stole, I mean borrowed) and resides in my office/studio. She's quite heavy, but is only about 6 inches or so wide. It's the table that takes up so much room! I keep an old towel beneath her because she has a tendency to drop oil - especially if I've lubed up a few of her parts! I'll post new pictures of her again very soon.

As for the yarn used in the coffee sock pattern - it's Plymouth Yarn Company's "Happy Feet" fingering weight.

And Sue, thank you very much for mentioning us on your blog.

Keep those questions coming and I'll do my best to answer them.
