God Bless America

Being a Vietnam veteran, my husband feels strongly about flying the American flag.  There's just nothing more beautiful.

Tehachapi, like many small towns across America will celebrate this great day with lots of wonderful festivities.  There's a pancake breakfast, a patriotic parade, hot dog festival, rodeo, concert and box dinner in the park and of course our fantastic fireworks show at 9 p.m.

We'll go into town for a few of the activities, then settle in for bar-b-qued cheeseburgers, homemade cherry limeades and blackberry crisp with vanilla ice cream.  YUMMO  Since we live higher up on the mountain, we have a bird's eye view of the show from our back porch.

Somewhere in all of that I'll be cranking out 4 - 5 socks.  We just got an order for 40 pair of socks that are needed like yesterday!  Doris (our 85+ year old sock machine) is choking a bit this morning, so as soon as this sock comes off, we may have to take her apart and give her a good cleaning and oiling.

Happy 4th of July to everyone.
