January 2011 Sock Giveaway......

Here's a view from across the Tehachapi valley looking south towards the mountains that we live on. My husband just left to get more pellets for the wood stove and diesel since we're under a high wind warning again. This storm has just howled all night long but hasn't brought the predicted snow yet. I'm sure it's coming tho.

Yesterday we said we'd do a one day giveaway for Mrs. Crumpet's Knitting Bag and since there were only two comments, I thought that both InJuneau and Sue deserved to win. Congratulations! I have your email Sue, so I will download a copy to you this morning and I'll leave a message on Ravelry for InJuneau.

Now for the really good stuff..................it's time once again to start our sock giveaway for this new month. Just leave a comment during this month on this post and on Feb. 1st, 2011 I'll randomly draw one name to win a pair of women's hand cranked socks. I get the thrill of picking which socks they will be, but the winner can choose which size (S, M or L). So, good luck and I'll look forward to reading all your delightful comments. Oh, and if you've already won one of our giveaways, no problem! Enter this one, too!

How's the weather in your area today? We'd all love to hear about it.

:) I'll join in this giveaway! I thought about joining in the last one, but alas I cannot knit. I can crochet, and I did dabble in knitting eons ago when I was 8. (I'm 35 now if that tells you anything!) When I get some of my crocheting projects thinned down, I'll probably try to pick it back up. :) OH and the weather here is being fickle. It was in the 60s yesterday however, today it's much cooler. It's causing everyone to get sick, so I'm staying inside and away from everyone!

Wow, what an interesting way to knit! I had never heard about it before, and I had a look about further down on the site- the socks look super nice and cozy!! I could use some right now. I am in Germany visiting family, and it is quite cold with lots of snow still on the ground.
Happy New Year to everyone!

We are cold and clear here! I for one am happy to see the sun. I hope your high winds die down soon so you can run the turbine. O and thanks for posting the pics of Doris last week I loved looking at her. Doris wasn't as big as I thought.

Well, I'd love a chance to win another pair, so I just have to enter!

Looks beautiful there where you are, but boy can high winds be a doozy. Hope they're not too bad.

Thanks!

It was a warm-ish, but rainy day here. Usually we get a break from the rain in the afternoons, but no such luck today! Hopefully tomorrow, when I'm back to my morning run, things will clear up a bit.

Good morning and happy today!
After reading about Doris and seeing her, you can bet I want to be counted in on this one!

I haven't been outside yet; it's still pitch black outside. I do know, however, that the cold is creeping in through the windows and wherever else it can sneak in. It's still very early; I think I'll go crawl under the blanket for a few more minutes!

Have a wonderful month everyone!

It's cold...for us! Right now the temp is at 32 degrees. The heater finally started working in the house last night and it's up to 60 degrees from 51 when I got up.

High today is predicted to be about 60 degrees.

Thank goodness I love wool even though I live in the Sonoran Desert!

Neat! I'd love to join in this giveaway :) It thawed here last week, but it's gotten colder and is now snowing again.

Yippee another chance to win socks? Its a bit rainy here, and kinda cold in southern CA, but not nearly as cold as my Christmas visit to WA where it was in the 20's!

I would love a pair since I'm unable to knit unless I use my knitting board and not able to make socks on a flat board unless you want a seam from toes to calf!
I just would love a pair of your warm socks it snowed again last night here in England and being bed-bound socks keep feet warm!!

I'll throw my hat in, just for kicks. Wish we got as much snow here in Georgia as you did! At least we had some for Christmas. Going to check out this sock method of yours.

I would love to win a pair of hand cranked socks. I have watched videos on Youtube about how these are made. I am really impressed with how they come together.

Socks are good. No snow YET here in Arkansas where I am. Just as glad. I have lots of family here this month and would rather not deal with snow and ice.

I had Food Poison for Christmas lol.. thought I would share that with you lol... I am entering again for my friend :) I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and man I can not believe I did not get here in time to post for the bag lol.
Hugs

Chilly and rainy today, as we come to expect from winter here. A valid reason to sequester myself from the world for a few hours with a mug of hot cocoa and a cosy pair of socks.

Very cold with the smell of snow in the air. Thank goodness our dog sleeps in the bed!

I would love to learn how to knit to be able to make my own socks. My grandmother used to make me crochet slippers when I was growing up, store bought are not the same.

Wow, your socks are beautiful. I just finished knitting my very first pair. They aren't near a lovely as the ones you do.
The weather here is 53 with light blue skies. There is no humidity so this is great.

I love socks! especially hand knit woolie socks! I'm making my second pair now. My grandmother had a boston terrier, they are such little characters.

I love knitted socks...they are definitely the best kind. I knit them also and always end up giving them away as a gift to a family member. Hard to get around to making them for myself. Maybe I'll get this pair
